June 2009 Board Report

Choir Representative Report on Board Meeting
24 June 2009

General points

  • Think about sponsors for Anything Goes
  • Remind your friends that the Verdi is an opportunity to bring the kids to an Orpheus concert – they can always leave at interval.

Playlist for 2010, 2011 and beyond

We had a useful discussion of the factors taken into account when setting the annual programme. In particular, the Board discussed the need for inventive, creative programming which engages the interest of choir members and of audiences, and which takes account of financial risk.

Ideas for the future included:

  • a children’s concert of classical favourites – perhaps with Vector?
  • three concerts in one year, with one lengthy Christmas piece
  • concerts during 2011 Rugby World Cup

Let me know if you have views or comments about the Choir’s programming.

Fundraising

As the Cloudburst fundraiser was such as success, Judy Salmond and Juliet Dreaver are organising a similar (but different) event for Anything Goes. The soiree will be held at a villa in Mt Victoria, with a small group singing.

Anything Goes

The budget for the end of year concert is already looking tight. Choir members are asked to think about who they might invite to be a sponsor for the concert – sponsorship information will be ready shortly.
