Building on the success of its 2017 Subscription Series, The Orpheus Choir of Wellington is delighted to present two superb concerts in 2018.
First up is a unique performance of Duruflé’s divine Requiem presented in association with the New Zealand School of Music. The full orchestral version will be performed, featuring soloists Jenny Wollerman and James Clayton. The Requiem transports us to a place of transcendent beauty, contrasting brilliantly with the other major work in the concert, Dvorak’s joyous and exuberant Te Deum.
The second concert features some of the world’s most glorious Christmas Music with the centre work being John Rutter’s Magnificat. Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols, a richly textured arrangement of three traditional English folk songs will also feature and the concert will end with a rousing rendition of Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus!
